Summer is often a time for cultivating tomatoes and various other plants. If summer returns to something resembling normal, I'll have to keep an eye on these ones so they don't fry. The succulents will be alright but the mint and tomato will need plenty to drink. Of course, normally everything is ready to harvest about when it's time to go away for a few days.
I just repotted the cherry tomato into a much larger pot, giving it some room to move and expand its roots, and to retain more moisture. Gardening is always provisional, as we try to adapt to the current climate and season.
I suppose after Christmas we get to make New Year's resolutions? Do you? I think I prefer to imagine that God is refining me all the time. Sometimes I need re-potting, if you can imagine me as a plant. What I mean is I get a bit stuck and the soil needs a shakeup and some more nutrients added into the mix.
I believe strongly that wherever we are at in life, God can work with what we bring to Him from our messy lives, and do something creative and life giving.
Apostle Paul writes to the Corinthian Church; ' But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.' (2 Cor 4: 7-10)
Well those are the best verses about clay pots I could find. Remember God is the master gardener, and your cracked pots are in God's hands.
