Monday: It's been a while since I got called for jury service. It's also novel to commute by bus for the first time in years. The bus broke down just before the bridge, requiring a bit of a reshuffle to another one. There's a lot of waiting involved with court stuff. Enough time to write a pastor's pen. However it's difficult to block out the noise, the noise of the multicultural cross-section of humanity in the jury ballot, but mainly the noise of morning television that no one is watching because they are all on their phones, including me, writing away.
The psalmist writes;
"For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken. . . . For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him."(Ps. 62:1–2, 5)
Here's hoping I can find some quietness of soul in between doing my duty in the jury waiting room. Perhaps some insight from a book I have with me, time for prayer or even one of those 'God conversations.'
Even in this unfamiliar, busy, chaotic world, it is possible to find God in the quiet within.
Wednesday: Today I rediscovered the Remedy coffee shop in Wellesley St. Hallelujah!
Shalom
